Product description

This product is designed for use with WLED controllers. It allows for the control of analog LED strips (single-color, warm/cool white CCT strips, RGB strips, etc.). 12V to 48V LED strips are supported. MOSFETs are used for this purpose. The board also features numerous protection mechanisms through integrated fuses and thermal monitoring. Thermal monitoring is flexibly configurable with DIP switches and operates completely independently of the software, thus not being affected by potential software errors. Multiple boards can be used simultaneously to utilize more channels (e.g., for GRB CCT strips, etc.).

The maximum current carrying capacity is limited by losses. These consist of two components:
  1. Conduction losses
    • Are higher at higher currents (proportional to the square of the current)
    • Not dependent on the voltage or PWM frequency
  2. Switching losses
    • Are higher at higher currents
    • Are higher at higher voltages
    • Are higher at higher frequencies

In WLED, the typical PWM switching frequency when using ESP32-based controllers is approximately 20 kHz. Starting with WLED 0.15.x, it is possible to adjust the frequency. The "Normal" setting corresponds to approximately 20 kHz, and the "Very slow" setting to approximately 10 kHz. Settings “High” and “Very high” are not recommended: they do not provide any visual benefits but lead to unnecessarily high switching losses.

It is based on an ESP32 microcontroller. To set up a chain of lights or lighting system, a power supply unit and one or more LED strips are required in addition to this product.
